The launch of the iPhone 13 seems imminent as Apple sent out invitations to the expected event in September earlier this week. Like last year, the iPhone 13 series will reportedly have the iPhone 13 alongside the iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and the iPhone 13 mini as four new models. Apple will reportedly bring some noticeable improvements to the iPhone 13 models over last year’s lineup. In addition to the iPhone 13 launch, the upcoming Apple event will likely be where the Cupertino company could unveil its new smartwatch, rumored to be the Apple Watch Series 7. Apple has also been long expected to unveil its new standard AirPods model.

This week on the Gadgets 360 podcast Orbital, host Akhil Arora speaks with Reviews Editor Jamshed Avari and Deputy Reviews Editor Roydon Cerejo to discuss the Apple event taking place on September 14 and what’s expected of the iPhone maker.

Apple has managed to keep some details secret this time as there are not many in-depth reports on the devices coming to the Apple event. Nevertheless, the rumor mill has suggested that the iPhone 13 series would be the showstopper of the online launch. One of the changes to the new iPhone models from their versions from last year is expected to be smaller notches. In the new lineup, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max would also have better ultra-wide cameras.

The iPhone Pro models may also include special camera features to provide a better experience than the standard options. Furthermore, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are believed to come with 120Hz refresh rate screens.

In addition to some significant changes, the iPhone 13 series is tipped with new color options and improved MagSafe magnetic charging with stronger magnets. However, it is unclear what impact the latter will have on pacemakers and medical implant users, as existing MagSafe technology hinders such external objects.

Some leaks suggest that Apple will keep the iPhone mini version in this year’s lineup and will likely be called the iPhone 13 mini. However, this would not be the case next year as the company reportedly has no plans for a mini version in the iPhone 14 series.

In addition to the iPhone 13 series, Apple is expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 7 at its California Streaming event next week. The new Apple Watch model is expected to match the design language of the iPhone and iPad with a flat-screen that could be slightly larger than the last year’s Apple Watch Series 6.

There could also be the new AirPods that Apple may call the AirPods 3, with an AirPods Pro-esque design. The next-generation AirPods may also include a wireless charging case as standard.
