Xiaomi today launched the Mi MIX 2 and the Mi Note 3. Starting with the Mi MIX 2 has a 5.99-inch bezel-less display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It has a 12 percent smaller chin than the previous generation Mi MIX and uses a hidden sound-guided speaker and an ultrasonic proximity sensor. Prices for the Mi MIX 2 start at CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs. 32,300) for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant and go all the way to CNY 4,699 (roughly Rs. 46,000) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant.

The Mi Note 3 launch is essentially a larger version of the Xiaomi Mi 6 launched earlier this year, with some minor differences. The company touts its newly developed AI-based Beautify feature, which has a 16-megapixel front camera and dual rear cameras, apart from face unlock and a 4-sided curved body. Pricing starts at CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs. 24,500) for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant, rising to CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 29,400) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant.

Xafecopy Trojan detected in India steals money via mobile phones, says Kaspersky Lab. About 40 percent of the malware’s target has been seen in India. “Kaspersky Lab experts have discovered mobile malware that targets the WAP billing payment method and steals money through victims’ mobile accounts without their knowledge,” the report said.

Xafecopy Trojan is disguised as a useful app like BatteryMaster and works normally. The trojan secretly loads malicious code on the device. Once the app is activated, the Xafecopy malware clicks on web pages with Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) billing – a form of mobile payment that charges directly to the user’s mobile phone bill. After this, the report said the malware silently subscribes the phone to several services.

SIM cards not linked to Aadhaar can be deactivated. According to a new report, the government will continue to link Aadhaar to mobile SIM cards, and all unpaired phones will be deactivated after February 2018. The Aadhaar mobile pairing is allegedly done under the Supreme Court orders passed in February this year in the Lokniti Foundation case. All SIM cards must be verified with Aadhaar within one year of the ruling date. All unpaired phones must be deactivated after February next year so that criminals, fraudsters, and terrorists cannot use the SIM cards issued.
