Samsung has finally unveiled the much-leaked Galaxy Note 8. It will be available for pre-order in select markets from Thursday and will ship from September 15. In the US, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 costs between $930 (about Rs. 59,500) on AT&T and $960 (about Rs. 61,500) on Verizon for the base variant. In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Note 8 comes with a 6.3-inch QuadHD+ display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (some markets are getting Samsung Exynos octa-core variant), 64GB of internal storage, 6GB of RAM, and microSD card slot support.

For photography, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with OIS support on both lenses – one wide-angle g/1.7 and the other telephoto f/2.4 with 2x optical zoom. On the front is an 8-megapixel f/1.7 camera. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 offers a battery of 3300 mAh and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The device offers IP68 water and dust resistance, support for wireless charging, NFC and MST for Samsung Pay, and a USB Type-C port.

The Galaxy Note 8 comes with an S-Pen accessory, which the company says will allow people to interact in “more personal ways” than ever with the Always On display that powers the Galaxy Note 8. The Jio Phone booking registrations can be done online and offline, although some offline retailers started taking pre-orders last week ahead of schedule. Jio Phone bookings will begin after 5 pm on August 24 through the MyJio app, the official website, and authorized Reliance Jio offline retailers, Gadgets 360 has learned.

The Jio phone is free to buy, but you need to earn an Rs. 1,500 refundable security deposit “to prevent possible abuse.” Gadgets 360 understands that the payment will be made in two parts – Rs. 500 is to be paid when you make the booking, while the remaining Rs. 1,000 must be paid when picking up the handset. Xiaomi Redmi 4 64GB variant on open sale Xiaomi Redmi 4 (Review) was launched in India in May this year and has been available on flash sale ever since. However, in a new development, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has announced that one of the variants – 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage – will now be available at all times on Amazon India and Mi.com. Android Oreo for select HTC smartphones There is good news for those who recently bought HTC smartphones or the flagship last year. These smartphones will get the Android Oreo update. Meizu M6 Note launched in ChinaMeizu launched its M6 Note smartphone in China on Wednesday. The Meizu M6 Note smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 625 SoC and dual rear cameras. The dual camera setup consists of a 12-megapixel primary sensor (6P lens) with f/1.9 aperture and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.0 aperture. On the front, the Meizu M6 Note has a 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and a 5P lens. The Meizu M6 Note is available in three RAM/storage variants, namely 3GB RAM/16GB storage, 3GB RAM/32GB storage, and  B RAM/64GB storage. The smartphone price is between CNY 1,099 (approximately Rs. 10,600) and CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs. 16,350).

Uber now supports UPI payments on its appsUber said on Wednesday it is adding a new payment method based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) infrastructure for users in India, the largest overseas market. The feature is available on both Android and iOS. The integration was first introduced in the Android app last month and is now available on iOS. Uber said the move will “help millions of drivers and partners pay digitally.”

OnePlus 3, 3T Gets OxygenOS 4.1.7 Update OnePlus has now started rolling out the OxygenOS 4.1.7 update for its OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones, bringing touch latency improvements to the smartphones. The update also adds battery optimizations and the August Android security patch. It was recently discovered that an app launcher from Google Play could easily bypass the app lockers on OxygenOS. This update reportedly fixes that issue as well.

UC Browser maker Responds to Data Breach Reports In response to media reports of its Indian users’ mobile data leaks to China, Alibaba browser UCWeb said on Wednesday it would never violate the trust of its users. According to media reports, the government was investigating allegations that Alibaba’s UC Browser leaked mobile data from Indian users. It was also reported that UCWeb could be banned in the country if found guilty.

Sony sued over alleged misrepresentation of ‘waterproof’ devices. On Friday, a US federal court in New York provisionally cleared a nationwide class action settlement against Sony regarding waterproof capabilities offered by certain Sony Xperia smartphones and tablets. The class action lawsuit against the Japanese company alleges it sold mobile devices that were “deceptively advertised” as waterproof. The settlement is only for US customers.

LG K8 (2017) launched in India The LG K8 (2017) has been quietly listed on the company’s online store, priced at Rs. 11,000. While there has been no official announcement from LG, the website mentions that the smartphone will be available through offline stores. Separately, an established Mumbai retailer claims that the smartphone is already being sold offline for Rs. 9,999. This year’s LG K8 sees a better camera, fingerprint scanning support, 4G VoLTE support, and a different design aesthetic.

The Joker wants an original story film; Strange Things End After 4 Seasons of Warner Bros. expands its DC Comics movie universe with an original story for The Joker. According to various reports, Martin Scorsese will produce the film. While the studio has not set a release date, there is reportedly no role in the movie starring Jared Leto, who played Joker in Suicide Squad. It will be a ‘gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime’ film set in the 1980s.

In other news, the makers of Stranger Things have announced that the TV show will end after four seasons. Stranger Things was last year’s surprise hit for Netflix, and so far, only one season of the show has aired. Stranger Things season 2 will be available on Netflix on October 27, and the creators have said this season will feel like a movie sequel rather than just the second season of a show.
