The OnePlus 5T has been released in India, goes on sale today through Amazon India for Prime members, and will be available to the general public on November 28. The device is available for Rs. 32,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant and Rs. 37,999 for the 8GB+128GB model, and it comes in Midnight Black only. The new features of the OnePlus 5T (Review) include the 6-inch borderless display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, improved cameras, and facial recognition. It comes with a bunch of launch offers like free 1,000 GB data from Idea, one-year of Zomato Gold membership, 12 months accidental damage insurance, Rs. 500 Kindle ebook credit, and Rs. 300 in Amazon Pay balance when using the Prime Video app along with Rs. 1,500 cash back on HDFC Bank credit and debit cards.
Aircel has launched new plans to acquire Jio Aircel has announced new rates for Kolkata Circle to earn Jio, providing fresh and existing subscribers with offers for local and STD voice calls, 3G data, and both local and national SMS. At Rs. 93, new Aircel users get local STD voice calls at 20 paise per minute, talk time worth Rs. 70, 250MB of data monthly, and 50 local and national SMS for 365 days. The Rs. 175 plan offers unlimited local and STD calls, 1GB 3G/2G data, and 100 SMS for 30 days and 84 days for Rs. 175 and Rs. 349, respectively.
For existing users, Aircel has charged the Rs. 94 package that reduces the rate of all local and STD calls to 20 paise per minute for 365 days and delivers 1,400 local and national SMS. Then there’s the Rs. 148 plan for existing users that offers bundled local and STD calls (up to 250 minutes per day, 1,000 minutes per week), 2 GB of data and 100 texts, and a validity of 28 days. Subscribers can also opt for the Rs. Pack 348 with bundled local and STD calls (up to 300 minutes per day, 1,200 minutes per week) and 1 GB of data per day, valid for 84 days.
Xiaomi has set up a new factory in India and launched the Mi Power Bank 2i series. Xiaomi has opened a new factory in Noida, the third in India, where it will produce its new Mi Power Bank 2i series. Covering an area of 2.3 lakh square feet, the facility can have seven power banks per minute. The factory employs 500 people, and Xiaomi plans to hire more shortly. The factory uses locally sourced packaging material; plans are underway for local sourcing of surface-mount technology (SMT) next year. The new Mi Power Bank 2i range comes in 10000mAh and 20000mAh capacities for Rs. 799 and Rs. 1499, respectively. It will be available in Mi.com and Mi Home stores on November 23 and in large format stores and Mi Preferred Partners in December.
Xiaomi has launched a new Mi Note 3 variant with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage in its home market. Priced at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 19,500), this model will come under the two original variants of the handset, which came with 6GB of RAM and 64GB and 128GB of storage options. Xiaomi Mi Note 3 gets a cheaper 4GB RAM variant. The Mi Note 3 has not yet been launched in India but was unveiled in China in September this year, and it comes with a 16-megapixel front camera, dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, and a 3500mAh battery. Other key features include a 5.5-inch full-HD display, Snapdragon 660 chipset, AI beautification, and face unlock.
India added 3.1 million telecom users in September 2017. Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) says it added 3.1 million telecom users in October 2017, with a total telecom base of 953.80 million. According to COAI, Airtel added 3.15 million users, Vodafone 0.88 million, and Idea 0.71 million; Aircel and Telenor lost 0.01 million and 1.1.4 million subscribers, respectively. Regarding the total subscriber base, Airtel is still the market leader with 285.20 million users, followed by Vodafone, Idea, and Aircel with 208.32 million, 190.87 million, and 88.25 million, respectively. However, the agency has not released October data for Reliance Jio and MTNL.
Gionee F6 and F205 bezel-less smartphones officially teased Gionee has teased the F6 and F205 smartphones in China, among the eight phones the brand will unveil on November 26. it does point to a borderless design and an 18:9 aspect ratio. One of the teasers also hints at the launch of Gionee M7 Plus, S11, S11, and Steel 3 smartphones at the same event. The launch of smartphones is planned in Shenzhen, China.
Uber Adds Live Location Sharing, Sends Gifts, and More Features The Uber app has added many new features in the US. One is allowing consumers to share their live location with drivers; the icon that tracks the rider changes from gray to blue when the site is shared in real-time. The beacon system that allows users to see their Uber cab using a beacon (placed on the car’s windshield) is now expanding to New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago. They will be able to change the color of the beacon to identify their taxi when multiple Uber cars are nearby. The app also allows riders to send Uber credits to friends and family members as a gift, along with a custom message. First released in India, the option to book taxis for others has also been introduced.
