Reliance Jio has much to do with the Jio Phone as it hopes to use it to grab its next big chunk of subscribers. While the Phone is still making its way to those registered for it, we have a report of a unit that reportedly exploded and caught fire. In a statement to Gadgets 360, a Reliance Retail spokesperson said the company is aware of the incident and has determined in the initial investigation that the damage was caused by deliberate sabotage. To make matters even more suspicious, the Twitter account that first tweeted photos of the mangled Phone has since deleted the tweet. It’s hard to say if this is a real incident or if it’s some mischief played by rivals in hopes of quelling the hype surrounding it.

In other news, it looks like Samsung can’t take a break when it comes to exploding phones, as a Galaxy J7 reportedly caught fire in mid-air on a Delhi-Indore flight last Friday. The Phone had been put in a bag, presumably not charged, when the owner noticed smoke coming out of the bag about 15 minutes after the Jet Airways flight departed. The fire was extinguished immediately, and everything was under control.

The Google Pixel 2 XL screen burn-in problem looks very worrying. Alex Dobie of AndroidCentral tweeted a photo last weekend that showed an annoying screen burn-in on his Pixel XL review unit. A burn-in on a P-OLED screen is not uncommon, but this problem usually crops up after months of use. It will be interesting to see what Google finds in its research and if it’s something that could go away with a software update. Or else, both Google and Android enthusiasts eyeing the Pixel 2 XL smartphone are in for some disappointment.
